Administrative

Archives: Prepare scrapbook

Bulk Mailing: Stuff envelopes, apply labels, sort by ZIP codes, etc.

Office Volunteer: Answer phones, general office work

Proofreading: Proofread OPUS (newsletter), yearbook, mailings, and publicity


EDUCATION

Instrument Playground: Introduce children to music with hands-on opportunities with orchestral instruments

Musical Stories: Narrated stories are accompanied by professional musicians

Society of Strings: Learn to play and perform a string instrument

Sound Images: Assist with a multi-age contest involving creating graphic art in response to classical music

We’ve Got Rhythm: Introduce third-graders in public schools to orchestral instruments, music and concert etiquette


COMPETITIONS

Hospitality: Provide food for the Music Competitions and Winners’ Concert

Registration: Check in contestants

Staffing:  Be a volunteer at the Competitions and/or at the Winners’ Concert


MEMBERSHIP

Meeting Set-up: Decorate tables, serve drinks and food for catered luncheon or dinner

Mentoring: Acquaint new members to the League’s programs and events

OPUS: Prepare and edit the quarterly newsletter

Recruitment: Introduce, recruit and retain members

Yearbook/Directory: Create, edit and proofread the annual members’ yearbook

Host Meeting: Offer home or other accommodations for a General Meeting or other event


PUBLIC RELATIONS

League Chorus: Perform at a General Meeting

Photography: Take pictures at meetings and events for publicity and archives

Publicity: Write articles, make media contacts and distribute multimedia information to the public

Social Media Administration: Serve as admin for Facebook, Twitter and additional social media platforms. Create posts, develop interest in events and respond to online messages, questions and comments.


MAESTRO’S BALL

Committee Member: Plan, organize and assume other related responsibilities

Invitations: Stuff envelopes, apply labels, sort by ZIP codes, etc.

Sponsorships: Solicit sponsorship investments from community partners


SYMPHONY SHOW HOUSE

Advertising: Sell ads for the Tour Book

Boutique: Assist customers in the Boutique

Construction Staffing: Monitor daily sign-in and answer phones during the construction phase

Designer Inventory: Prepare inventory used in the interior/exterior

Designer Sales: Facilitate sales of items furnished and displayed by the designers

Dust Busters: Assist with daily light cleaning while open to the public

Gardening: Periodic watering potted plants provided by designers

House Operations: Set up and oversee maintenance

Move-in/Move-Out: Coordinate moving League’s storage

Parties: Book, arrange and facilitate show house and/or private events

Publicity: Write, photograph, and coordinate multimedia releases

Room Host: Host in rooms while open to the public

Tour Book: Collect information and assist in layout and editing
